A brand new women’s cycling team for 2018
What better way to celebrate #internationalwomensday than by launching your new women’s cycling team, so it is with great pride that we present to you the Young Rider Development Programme.
The Young Rider Development Programme started in 2017 as a way to help British female riders experience racing in Belgium. Over 30 British women made use of the opportunities offered, and took part in at least one of our weekend trips to race Kermesse against some of the best riders of the world in the home of cycling.
For 2018 we are taking a new approach, we have selected a group of 11 young, up and coming riders from around the UK (and abroad) to help them develop to UCI level riders. A number of international events have been carefully selected for the team based on suitability and increasing levels of difficulty over the season. Besides the various UCI races, the team will be racing in the UK in the HSBC National Women’s series as well as the newly created Junior Women’s National series and they are bidding for a spot in the OVO Energy Women’s Tour Series.
A very big thank you has to go out to all the partners that have shown a great amount of faith and vision in backing the Young Rider Development Programme.
The team will be riding the KTM Bike Industries Revelator. Custom cycling kit will be provided by Jakroo Cycling Clothing while EKOI UK will provide their new AR13 aero helmet to the riders as well as custom Perso Evo4 sunglasses. Sponser Sports Nutrition from Switzerland will supply each rider with the nutrition they require. Cyclingshorts.cc will act as the team’s media partner and will also provide the team with a brand new website (launched shortly). Finally a big thank you to the Fred Whitton Challenge for giving the team a grant to help the team achieve its goals.
